Nothing particularly deep or complex today.
Just simple blue beauty.
The mid-sections of Istanbul’s Sultan Ahmed Mosque contain more than 20,000 Iznik (the ancient city of Nicaea) tiles, whose vibrant blue, green, and turquoise hues lend the structure its popular nickname, The Blue Mosque.
Happy Birthday to DBS, another seeker of beauty in the world, and a lifelong lover of blue.
Superb.Thanks.

Welcome back, augenblick! Over 40 years since we visited that stunning space; still remember being dazzled.

Beautiful images. Learned a new word today, ubuntu. Many translations but the woman who shared it with me told me to her it meant “we are one because we are together”

That’s a wonderful place…the last time I was there, its address was East Berlin! I expect to do more posts about Islamic art, as a counterbalance to the powers that be…
